09/15/2009 Outdoor Emergency Care -Associate Status
Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) is a performance-based, emergency care educational program of the National Ski Patrol. The primary focus of the program is to help you manage the toughest emergencies in the wilderness environment. Certified National Ski Patrol instructors from the area will educate participants on ski and snowboard injuries, high-altitude and cold-weather illness, splinting, bandaging, managing prolonged transports and equipment needed for outdoor emergency care. American Heart Association-based Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification for Paramedical Professionals will be presented as part of the course content. Outdoor Emergency Care technicians provide care at ski resorts, wilderness settings, white-water excursions, mountain bike events, and in many other outdoor environments. OEC technician certification should be considered for anyone who wishes to eventually be employed or volunteer as an Alpine or Nordic Ski Patroller.
Classes are held Tues/Thurs nights at 7pm at the ORC. Class begins 9/15 and ends 12/10.
An informational session will be held on September 1st at 7pm in the SRC Classroom.
