Global Positioning System (GPS)…Lost? Come get the tools to know where you are, find yourself. This course will provide a basic understanding of the history of GPS and how it works as well as give a step by step tutorial on how to use GPS receivers. In addition to developing your navigation skills, participants will be provided a tutorial on how to utilize and read topo maps. Getting lost is never fun but having the tools and knowledge on how to use them can help make the experience an adventure! No experience with GPS or topo maps is necessary and by the end of this workshop we will put our skills to the test by a little taste of the popular GPS sport know as Geo-Cashing. (Level 1) This activity requires low levels of physical conditioning and no specific experience is necessary, technical skills are not necessary.
