10/10/2009 Hot Springs Camp and Soak

What’s better than soaking in your choice of hot pools, ranging from 90-100F, after a day of hiking in Idaho’s beautiful Selway-Bitterwood Wilderness? The trail gifts its followers with views almost from the start, as it wanders up a cleared hillside, above Wilderness Gateway Campground. From here, hikers gradually ascend through spurts of old growth forest, meanwhile hardly losing site of Boulder Creek below. At mile five, the group will follow a trail that leads slightly down hill, across Boulder Creek, and then gently ascend once more to finish the jaunt up to Stanley Hot Springs. After a satisfying mountain meal and a social soak in the hot springs, relaxed bodies will enjoy a night camping in the wilderness before returning to Pullman the following day. No experience is necessary and all needed camping equipment is provided. (Level 2) Good physical conditioning is necessary, little experience is required, and little technical knowledge is necessary. There is a mandatory pre trip meeting for this trip. This pre trip meetings are designed to give patrons the necessary information for the trip as well as answer any questions. The Pre-Trip meeting for this adventure is Wednessday, October 7, at 6:30pm in the Outdoor Recreation Center.
